Dear Business Leader,
As a candidate for NC Senate, District 43 I would like to share my views on how we can make businesses stronger and more successful in Gaston County. Currently, North Carolina’s corporate tax rate is 6.9%, the highest in the southeast. South Carolina has a rate of 5%. Reducing the tax rate for all business, existing and new, will allow us to compete with surrounding states, creating job growth.
We need to find ways to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses and eliminate needless red tape you have to go through to succeed and grow. Excessive fees are an unnecessary tax, adding to the cost of doing business in North Carolina.
Giving special incentives and money to outside businesses to locate here is a form of ‘picking winners’. Whatever is offered as an incentive to new businesses should be available to all businesses, large, small, new and existing, leveling the playing field for everyone.
Your views on North Carolina government and ways in which we can stimulate business and job growth in Gaston County are important to me. I would be glad to meet with you and discuss your ideas.
